Bill Fenton Motorsports Aims for Another ST Podium at Mid Ohio

June 21, 2007 - LEXINGTON, Ohio - After top-ten finishes for both of their Acura RSX-S entries at Lime Rock, Bill Fenton Motorsports heads to Mid-Ohio ready for a win during this weekend’s KONI Challenge Street Tuner race.

Todd Lamb and Dave Thilenius stood on the podium at Lime Rock after a skillfully executed third place finish in the No. 27 Bill Fenton Acura. Now, they hope to have the car at the front of the field when Sunday’s ST race ends.

Bob Beede will co-drive the No. 29 Bill Fenton Acura with Chad Gilsinger this weekend. Gilsinger, who works for Acura, is making his KONI Challenge debut as a driver, but he is no stranger to Bill Fenton Motorsports - Gilsinger is also on the team’s crew.

During last year’s KONI Challenge race, Bill Fenton Motorsports tasted both success and bitter disappointment. The No. 27 Acura cruised to a finish of third in the ST class. Their No. 29 sister car, however,  ended its race early after getting caught up in a multi-car crash entering turn one. The violent crash sent the No. 29 Acura tumbling upside-down, but luckily everyone walked away from the incident.

This year, the team is focusing on the podium potential of both cars. They proved at Lime Rock that both cars have the speed - and the driving talent - to run up front.

Lamb and Thilenius drove together at Mid-Ohio last season, and for Lamb it marked a return to racing after a six-year hiatus. “We’re both really excited to be going to a track where we’ve raced before, and where we’ve been teammates, no less,” says Lamb.

When asked about his favorite part of the Mid-Ohio circuit, Lamb jokingly names turn one, saying, “Our crew chief Steve Wheeler has put some ‘Gravity Boost’ in both cars to make sure all four wheels stay on the ground through there!”

The 400-kilometer KONI Challenge Street Tuner race begins at 2:45 p.m. this Sunday.

Bill Fenton Motorsports is sponsored by Acura, Aprilia, Southern Auto Auction and 2Wheel Tuner Magazine.
