Atlanta Speedwerks began as the shop I wanted as a driver and coach: accountable, deeply technical, and prepared to solve the hard problem.
What started in 2014 with one mechanic and 5,000 square feet grew into a nationally competitive race team and a 20,000-square-foot European automotive facility. Today, the same habits that decide races—preparation, clear data, precise execution, honest debriefs—shape every customer experience.

Graduated from GMI Engineering & Management Institute with a mechanical-engineering degree, then spent the next decade in Detroit-area automotive engineering focused on safety components.
SourceStarted racing karts at age 10, built my own motors, and competed in WKA regional and national sprint races, ovals, and street races. Skip Barber Racing School in 1996 opened the door to open-wheel and sports-car racing, including a Barber Dodge Pro Series start at Laguna Seca.
From Todd’s published archiveFounded and published Speed, Style & Sound, followed by the custom-sportbike title 2Wheel Tuner. Built the company at the intersection of machines, culture, and storytelling, then sold it in 2007.
SourceWon consecutive NASA Spec Miata National Championships, then captured the 2009 professional Mazda MX-5 Cup championship with eight victories, seven poles, and an eight-race winning streak.
SourceAdvanced through the MAZDASPEED ladder into Grand-Am GT and Continental Tire competition. The 2012 World Challenge season brought two St. Petersburg podiums, a three-race Utah podium sweep, victories at Laguna Seca and rain-soaked Mid-Ohio, four wins overall, and championship runner-up.
SourceWon the 13-hour endurance race at VIR, then founded Atlanta Speedwerks with one mechanic and roughly 5,000 square feet. The original mission: professional preparation, coaching, and track support.
SourceReturned to MX-5 Cup and won at Watkins Glen while growing Atlanta Speedwerks into a multi-car program. Then helped launch Spec MX-5 Challenge as a cost-controlled bridge from club racing to the professional ranks.
SourceLaunched a two-car Honda Civic Type R TCR effort, won an MX-5 Cup race at Indianapolis from ninth on the grid at age 50, and earned Atlanta Speedwerks’ first IMSA victory at Watkins Glen with Ryan Eversley.
SourceExpanded Atlanta Speedwerks into a 20,000-square-foot European-service and performance facility, won the 2023 ChampCar National Championship, and used the shop’s own BMW i3 to develop a high-capacity EV battery upgrade.
